The history of the area goes back to 1824.When you enter the neighborhood of Hoggs Hollow you could feel the history and the exclusivity of the area. Beautiful, charming old but classic houses. There is a mixture of new, old, Bungalows, 2 storey homes and even mansions in this location. It is one of the most expensive areas in the City of Toronto.
Rosedale Golf Club is another reason that this location is very attractive. Rosedale Golf Club has covered a large part of this neighborhood and has added value and beauty to the area.
Old Yonge Street that has a large part in St Andrew-Windfields section, has a short run in Hoggs Hollow area, which runs from south of York Mills Rd and merges with Campbell Crescent, which turns to Donino Avenue while running south. The Miller Tavern is a Seafood Restaurant in Hoggs Hollow. This historical place The Miller Tavern was a 19th century which originally called the York Mills Hotel. It was built in 1860s. A local mill owner renamed this hotel to The Jolly Miller. Later the hotel was renovated and change to a seafood restaurant with the current name.
The Miller Tavern is located on Mill St right at Yonge Street and Mill Street. Brookfield Road is the same street as Mill street that after the intersection of Donino Avenue the name changes to Brookfield Rd, which runs East West. Plymbridge Crescent is at the end of Brookfield Road that turns to Plymbridge Crescent. This Crescent is a branch to Plymbridge Road that ends with merging to Green Valley Road and York Valley Crescent.
Closest road to Rosedale Golf Club are, Knightswood Road, that runs East West and after a small turn name changes to Donwoods Drive. In the middle there is a crescent shape road that is called St Margarets Dr that backs to a river. Other small branches to Donwoods Drive are Winton Rd which is dead end short road. Donwoods Grove, another private, dead end short road.
Donino Avenue has a small branch road called Donino Court. Downwoods Drive also merging with Donino Avenue and continues toward Yonge Street and meets Yonge street by passing by Downwood Lane. Another branch of this road called Ivor Road which have beautiful old and new built homes in it.
Forest Glen Crescent is one of the best sections of the area and most eastern part of this crescent is next to Rosedale Golf Club. A branch of this crescent called Doncliffe Place that turns to Doncliffe Drive that merges with Forest Glen Crescent.
Hillcrest Progressive School, Lewis Carrol Communications, Bryant Anthony G are in the same location. Armour Heights elementary public school, St. Andrew’s JHS Intermediate, York Mills CI SS Secondary and Northern SS Technological Programming are the schools for this area.
Transportation for this area is very convenient. The closest subway station is York Mills subway station, which is right at North East corner of Yonge Street and York Mills Road.
In this historical location, there are still 4 original houses standing. Two are located on the Yonge street side Hogg’s Hollow that are used as an entrance to a Restaurant called Auberge du Pommier . The other two houses are located on number 1 Old Yonge and number 5 Old Yonge.

The area of Hogg’s Hollow started to be subdivided around 1920. Streets, culs de sacs and crescents in here are surrounded by majestic Maple trees, Spruce trees, Birch trees, Pine trees and Willow trees.
There is a stone bridge that passes over Don River which passes through this beautiful neighbourhood that flows towards Lake Ontario.
Properties in the area are highly expensive, but keep in mind some houses in this specific location have water table problem that creates moisture and flood problem. With the result of these, when you buy a home in this neighborhood you must have a professional Home Inspector to inspect the property before buying it. Also home insurance is very very expensive for the Hogg’s Hollow houses.
